I have been a full time painter, paperhanger for 43 years.
What is your primary product or service?
Painting, interior and exterior. Paperhanging and removal. Faux and decorative painting. Staining and varnshing. Deck refinishing. Drywall and plaster repairs. Carpentry.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I am the 4th generation of painters in my family, and very proud of that family history. I have the good fortune to work with and learn my craft from some of the very best. I have worked very hard every day to continue learning my craft and perfecting my skills. I started Manion Decorating in 1981 and learned to love my work.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I love my work and have great passion for all I do. It is NOT about getting a paycheck. I learned at a very early age that anything worth doing was worth doing right the first time. I take great pride in all I do. I am always striving to learn and be better at all I do.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
I opperate my business out of Elmhurst. I have always been small as a business, and will stay that way to keep our quality at a very high level.

Which areas do you service?
I work anywhere in the Chicago area. I have gone as far as Wisconsin, Iowa, Florida, and Montana for work.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
I own Manion Decorating and do all the estimating, and much of the work. My wife Mary does all the book keeping. We make a very good team.
What are your hours of operation?
All our worh is done Monday through Friday. We typically start work at 7 or 7:30 am and finish our day around 4 pm.
I accept calls from 7 am to 9 pm Mon. through Friday. Sat. and Sun. 10 am to 8 pm.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
That we exceed our customers expectations.
