How long have you been in business?
We are the Midwest Regional Headquarters for the JKA WF America (www.jkawfamerica.org). We opened doors to our full-time Training Center on October 01, 2008.
What is your primary product or service?
We specialize in imparting Traditional & Authentic Japanese Shotokan Karate instruction. We follow a strict curriculum set by the Japan Karate Association (www.jka.or.jp). We also offer self-defense classes for individuals and groups. Our instructors have a lot of experience conducting training programs and workshops for schools, colleges, universities and corporate organizations.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Sensei Dhawan started studying Karate as a young teen-ager, and little did he know, that once he was out of school, he packed his bags to go to Japan to become a Karate Instructor.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We do not bind people with contracts. Students pay as they choose, by the class, or by the month. We also do not wear colourful uniforms, which turn one's mindset into that of a circus clown. We take our Karate very seriously, and have direct affiliation with the Japan Karate Association, the parent organization for Karate in the world.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
At the moment, we have a brand new custom-furnished location in Bloomingdale, that we will be moving into starting September 2009. That is our main training center where we have different classes from Kinder to Adults. Perhaps, by the end of this year, we will have a couple more in Berwyn and Round Lake.

We are situated at 227 E Army Trail Road in the Clover Leaf Plaza in Bloomingdale. This is right between the Bloomingdale & Regency Signals. Our neighboring businesses are Dance Xplosion & IItalian Deli & Cafe.

We accept either Bank Checks or Cash.
Which areas do you service?
We have Students , (ranging from 5 year olds to 62 yearolds), who come to train with us all the way from Elgin, Round lake, Berwyn, Chicago. The closeby neiborhoods being Addison, Wood Dale, Schaumburg, Elmhurst, Wild Springs, Wheaton, Carol Stream, Bloomingdale, Glendale Heights, Hanover park, Lombard, Naperville, etc
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
The Director of the company is Sensei N Dhawan. He is the Chief Instructor and teaches nearly all of the classes that are conducted every day of the week. He is also in demand to teach at various states and institutions, and is one of the senior referees in the USA and India. While he is away teaching, competing or judging, 3 other senior assistants help out.
What are your hours of operation?
We are open Mon - Sat
10 am - 2 pm
&
4pm - 9pm.
